about

Lacey Cole left the Blue Mountains in a dust-cloud of broken relationships and personal controversies. Hardly unscathed, and undoubtedly guilty, he had at least stolen away with him this collection of songs. Steeped in religion, love, betrayal, death, anxiety and violence; Cole’s music proves his ability as a captivating storyteller while the album’s production supports his narrative in its sparse textures and vulnerability. Recorded over two years and numerous late nights at St John’s Bishopthorpe Church in Sydney’s inner-west, Other Ways To Say The Same Thing is precisely that- an evolving understanding of a time when love was lost; faith, misguided; and the hope of forgiveness was still a long way off.
